Testicular sperm extraction
TESE is a testicular biopsy which is performed before an IVF cycle to look for live sperm in men who do not have sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermic men). Azoospermia affects 1% of the male population and 10% of men who come to a fertility clinic.
The live sperm found is frozen and used later on in an ovarian stimulation cycle.
