Many women cannot have children due to fertility problems like early menopause, ovarian disease, surgery that has decreased their ovarian reserve and many other causes. An alternative treatment for them is to receive eggs from an anonymous donor in a fertility clinic. Egg donation is a generous gift from one woman to another.
Women in the 21st century have many times delayed pregnancy because of professional reasons to 35 or even later. A woman is said to be most fertile in her mid-twenties. Thus egg donation is a very important technique for women with fertility problems caused by age. Moreover, using donor eggs also becomes an alternative for patients who have had cancer and whose fertility has been affected by cancer treatments, as well as for other women with gynaecological pathologies and genetic diseases.
All of these circumstances have lead to the fact that every year in Spain, ten thousand egg donations are carried ouy. This is a record number and places Spain in the top positions of the world ranking in egg donations.
Donating eggs is an act of solidarity of one woman to another. OVADONA, a program of egg donation at ProcreaTec, is oriented towards women between 18 and 35 years of age, who are willing to anonymously, voluntarily and altruistically help other women who cannot become mothers for reasons beyond their control.
As a donor, you will undergo a complete medical check-up, performed by skilled specialists. The check-up involves physical, gynaecological and psychological examinations so egg donation is not a risk to your health. This way, stimulation is personalized and tailored to your personal physical characteristics.
Donating eggs is safe but it requires discipline and commitment in line with the importance given to you by those who depend on your generosity. You will receive a financial compensation for your effort, for the time you spend in donating and for any discomfort involved.
Remember, the process of donation takes place in total confidentiality, in the greatest privacy and it is completely anonymous. By law, there will never be any link between donor and receiver.
We encourage you to make a couple very happy and to help them reach their dreams of having a child.

The donation process
The process of donating eggs is quite simple. First, you attend an introductory session at our clinic where we will talk about fertility, the importance of egg donation, preparation for donation and the procedure itself. Then, after appointments with doctors and the psychologist, the process begins and lasts about two weeks.
The first step is to prepare the donor and synchronize her cycle with the cycle of the recipient. Stimulation is then begun and during this process, routine check-ups are carried out to monitor the development of the follicles. Once the follicles attain the correct size, the eggs are extracted in a simple, 15-minute operation called egg retrieval. Sedation is used so no discomfort is felt.
During the whole process, ProcreaTec is at the disposal of all donors to answer any questions or solve any doubts that may possibly arise. At ProcreaTec, we place great importance on the relationship between the clinic, our patients and our donors. In fact, nine out of ten women who donate at ProcreaTec feel comfortable enough to repeat egg donation.
First meeting and medical check-up
Once we receive the form with your data, we will telephone you to explain the donation process and answer your doubts and questions. An appointment will be made so that you can get to know us and decide if you are interested in donating. If so, medical tests will be carried out and a check-up will be performed to assess your health and fertility. At the same time, you must pass a psychological evaluation, which includes a written test and an interview with the psychologist of our team. At the end of this process, if you are chosen, we will call you so that you can begin the cycle (always at the beginning of your period) and we will give you information on the medication.
The treatment consists of stimulating your ovaries through subcutaneous injections so as to produce 6-12 mature eggs for donation.
During 10 to 12 days, we will give you the meds and we will be at your disposal by phone or e-mail, in case you need to ask anything or have any questions.
The process finishes with an egg retrieval, lasting about 15 minutes. This is done in an operating room and is painless because you are sedated. You will remain in the at the clinic for 1 or 2 hours, until the effects of the sedation have worn off and you have had some water. You are encouraged to come with someone.
A week or so after egg retrieval you need to come back to the clinic, where you will have an ultrasound scan and you will be asked if you want to repeat the process. At this time, you will receive a compensation for donating as well as the complete results of all the tests performed.
