Research & Development
ProcreaTec is a clinic committed to research in order to develop and improve diagnosis, treatment and basic research in the field of fertility. At ProcreaTec, we invest part of our resources in funding investigation and research projects. In recognition of our commitment, we have received two Merck Serono awards for Innovation, Quality and Image in Assisted Reproduction (ICIRA).
In 2009 we were awarded second prize in the category “Relevant Data in Assisted Reproduction Treatments”. The title of the paper was: “Does the addition of LH recombinant hormone help oocyte morphology in normal responding patients, in relation to their anti-Müllerian hormone level?” In this study, we evaluated the anti-Müllerian hormone level with the number and quality of eggs obtained in IVF cycles. We found a tendency to retrieve more eggs with a higher anti-Müllerian level but when the AMH was very high, oocyte quality was not as good.
Two years later in 2011, we were awarded another ICIRA prize in the category “Innovation in Assisted Reproduction Treatments”. It was awarded for a research study we carried out on the evaluation of early division in embryos that were cultured to Day 5, to the blastocyst stage. If early cleavage was observed, increased pregnancy rates in IVF fertilization treatments were reported. Biologists Nagore Uriarte and Dr. Felix Rodriguez and Drs. Lourdes Lopez Yañez and Jennifer Rayward carried out the research.
Merck Serono holds the national ICIRA award every two years to recognize work done by specialists in the area of Assisted Reproduction with the goal of improving treatments for patients.
These awards recognize our work and commitment to investigation and research, the quality of our services, our excellent results and the personalized attention we offer to our patients.
Currently we are carrying out several research projects in the clinical area and in the laboratory. Clinical area:
- Mild Stimulation Protocol
- Obesity and implantation
- Blood flow in the uterus
- Anti-mullerian hormone
- Variables in embryos cultivated in the EmbryoScope
ProcreaTec cooperates actively with the Complutense University of Madrid in its Masters in Assisted Reproduction, by:
- Training gynaecologists
- Training biologists
We offer training sessions, both theoretical and practical, in the field of Assisted Reproduction.
Courses for doctors:
- Practical Basis of Assisted Reproduction for specialists in Family and Community Medicine.
- Courses for doctors in residency who are specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
