The uterine cavity is an essential element in pregnancy. It’s correct evaluation allows us to detect the presence of morphological and/or functional alterations that can influence achieving pregnancy.
With this objective, three-dimensional ultrasound offers the possibility of diagnosing pathologies that are of difficult access with other diagnostic tools like hysterosalpingograms or conventional ultrasound. This scan is performed to detect problems, which then gives us the opportunity to solve them by other procedures before initiating fertility treatment.
In addition a complementary procedure called hysterosonography, can be performed. This technique uses saline solution to distend the uterine cavity, which enhances the image quality to better visualize septums, polyps or fibroids and help reach definitive diagnosis.
