Magnetic Activated Cell Sorting, or MACS is a technique that has been used in different fields of Medicine for the last 25 years. In Assisted Reproduction, it allows us to select the best sperm and it eliminates cells beginning apoptosis. Apoptosis is the procedure cells use to program their death. MACS sort the spermatozoa that have the best possibilities of fertilizing an egg.
This technique is used for:
- Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis treatments
- When there is a high percentage of DNA chain fragmentation of the sperm
- Repeated miscarriages
- Implantation failures
- Low quality of the embryos in previous cycles.
